My favourite Canadian hotel and our Halifax choice in both 2025 and 2026: central, pet friendly and convenient for walking the city.
The short version
The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites sits on South Park Street in downtown Halifax, and we happily returned for two nights in July 2026 after first staying in 2025. Its central location, attached parking and pet-friendly rooms make it an excellent base with Tilly.
During our 2025 stay, parking cost $35 per day and the pet fee was $40 per pet. Confirm current parking and pet charges directly before booking.
Tilly received a welcome bag during our 2025 visit containing food, a treat and poop bags, plus a discount for a nearby pet store. Our 2026 return confirmed it remained our favourite Halifax base.
