Halifax Citadel National Historic Site
A leashed walk around Citadel Hill’s broad grassy grounds, with elevated views across downtown Halifax and the harbour.
The short version
We walked around the grounds of Halifax Citadel National Historic Site with Tilly during our July 2026 stay. The grassy slopes and paths gave us an excellent city walk and wide views over downtown and the harbour.
Parks Canada permits pets on the grounds when they are leashed or suitably confined and asks owners to clean up after them. We kept our visit outdoors; check the current visitor guidelines before taking a dog into exhibits or other interior spaces.
Leashed or suitably confined pets are permitted on the grounds. We walked outdoors with Tilly; confirm current rules for interior spaces before visiting.
